Abhaneri is a small village located about 30 kilometers from Bhangarh Fort. It is best known for Chand Baori, an incredible 13-story stepwell built in the 8th or 9th century by King Chanda. The well drops 20 meters into the earth with exactly 3,500 perfectly symmetrical steps.

While visitors are not allowed to walk down the ancient stairs, the view from the perimeter is fascinating. Next to the stepwell sits the partially ruined Harshat Mata Temple, an ancient Hindu site that requires no entry fee.
